After recently returning to the Universitat Politècnica de València, I have been reflecting on an enriching month spent at the University of Bath as a Visiting Lecturer. During my stay, I had the opportunity to collaborate with researchers from the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering on the ReDiW-Bridge project, an initiative exploring reusable digital workflows for the documentation, conservation and presentation of historic bridges.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and research perspectives in areas including digital heritage, reality capture, BIM-GIS integration and digital twins. Beyond the project itself, it was inspiring to work within an interdisciplinary and international research environment, discuss new ideas, and establish connections that I hope will lead to future collaborations between Bath and Valencia.
I am grateful to my colleagues at Bath for their warm welcome and generosity throughout my stay. Experiences such as these highlight the importance of international collaboration in advancing research, fostering innovation and addressing shared challenges in the documentation and conservation of our built heritage.
